Design and Display

Garmin

Both of these watches feature a round design, but the Forerunner 265 bezel is made of fibre-reinforced polymer, whereas the Venu 3 bezel is made of stainless steel, making it more durable and scratch-resistant than the plastic case. For the screen protection, both use Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect from any wear and tear.

Each device comes with 22mm quick release bands, making it easy to change bands and customise according to your needs and style choice. The bands they ship are made of silicon, making them comfortable for all-day wear. The watch also weighs the same 47g, which is lightweight, and you can use it while running, gymming, or other stuff, and you won’t feel much weight on your wrist.

You get touchscreen support on both of these watches, not like other watches like the Forerunner 255, which don’t offer this, making it easier to navigate and use its features. You also get a 5ATM water resistance rating, meaning you can use it while swimming (except in high-pressure jets).

The Venu 3 features a 1.4-inch AMOLED Always On Display (454 x 454 pixels) screen, whereas the Forerunner features a slightly smaller 1.3-inch (416 x 416 pixels) screen but offers an AMOLED Always On Display.

Both offer two size options to choose from: the Venu 3 comes in 45mm and 41mm, and the Forerunner 265 comes in 46mm and 42mm. Making it easier for a wider range of users to find a comfortable fit. It comes in Black, Whitestone, Light Pink, and Aqua. The Venu 3 comes in French Gray, Pebble Gray, Sage Gray, Dust Rose, Ivory, Whitestone, and Black colorways.

Health and Fitness Features

Garmin is known for its health and fitness tracking, and they prove with these two watches that they are still the best.

The Venu 3 features a body battery, Sleep Coach, over 30 built-in sports apps, including running, cycling, and riding, plus a morning report and recovery time, which tells you how well you recovered.

Whereas the Forerunner features a body battery, morning report, running training plans, daily suggested workouts, training readiness, status, and HRV status. Both watches cover fitness enthusiasts and normal users with identical health features.

Each device has wrist-based heart rate tracking, stress tracking, women’s health tracking, a pulse ox sensor, guided promt for activities, VO2 max, and various other features. But are you wondering why they didn’t offer anything to differentiate? This is not true; you’ll be surprised with the Venu 3’s new features.

They introduced nap detection, which can detect unplanned and planned naps and log them into the app. Plus, Jet Lag Advisor, animated on-screen workouts, perceived exertion, breathing mode, and wheelchair mode As you can see, the features on Venu 3 covered some of the best features you get on watches from brands like Apple.

Smartwatch Features

Each device has features like Garmin Pay for contactless payments, smart notifications, the ability to download music and playlists from Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music, safety and tracking, and Connect IQ.

But on the Venu 3, you can now see photos someone sent to you and reply to texts on your watch screen, which is a handy feature to have, but both of these features only work on Android, so if you have an iOS device, then you can’t use these features.

Battery Life

The Garmin improved the battery life in its Venu 3, which can now last for up to 14 days in smartwatch mode (5 days display always on), in battery saver smartwatch mode it can last up to 26 days, with GPS-Only GNSS mode up to 26 hours, All-Systems GNSS mode for up to 20 hours, and with All-Systems GNSS mode with music it can last up to 11 hours.

The Forerunner 265 battery is also good, but less than the Venu. In Smartwatch mode, it can last for up to 13 days; with GPS-Only GNSS mode, it can last up to 20 hours; SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode, it can last up to 16 hours; All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band, it can last up to 14 hours; with GPS-Only GNSS mode with music, it can last up to 7 hours; SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode with music, it can last up to 6.5 hours; and All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band with music, it can last for up to 6 hours.

Verdict

It is super easy to decide now which one is the winner. The Venu 3 has all the features that the Forerunner 265 has plus added additional features like nap detection, jet lag mode, a bigger screen, and many more.

The most important thing is that the price is also the same, so if you get everything on Venu 3 without second thought, you can go for it.
